This is a creative formative assessment that determines the students understanding that weight measures how heavy an object is and how we can compare two objects based on weight. It also assesses their understanding of how a balance works.

This is a creative formative assessment that determines the students understanding of magnets: how they work and what kind of objects they attract. This project is meant to be done towards the end of a magnet unit. I like this assessment because students have to apply their knowledge of magnets while also being creative and thinking outside of the box.

This is an example of a simple exit slip that was used as a formative assessment at the end of a class period in order to do a quick check on what students learned. It guides students to reflect upon what they learned that day and what questions they still have or what they are still wondering about.
